The government is probably the only industry that has been hiring people out of the recession cooked population for the bolstering of security needs. The terrorist threats that have been materialized by 9/11 has spurred increased spending into the security jobs market where people from video surveillance installers, monitoring staff and maintenance crews are getting good news for the time being. The increased expenditure translates to more jobs which people gladly take (there are not much around) and usually give acceptable pay. Security experts are also in demand due to the increasing need for bolstering existing security at vital installations such as airports, sea ports and borders. Countries all over the world are doing the same such as in the UK which is considered to be the most video surveillance covered country on earth with a camera on every street corner.
The Federal government has had an increase of hiring mainly due to requirements for homeland security and for bolstering existing security forces to deal with terrorist threats. Some economists say this is not all that bad (which brings to mind aliens from a different universe) who might as well be from another planet for the economy is getting worse and everybody knows it (except them that is). The government is pouring billions into the drive to protect Americans from external and internal threats that are constantly testing the resolve of security forces. The federal government payroll has increased so much it has the budget of a small country and it shows no signs of slowing.
Bad news for the slowing economy is taking its toll on the labor industry where people are loosing jobs faster due to the slowing economy. Companies have to resort to manpower reduction schemes in order to survive the financial crisis which is hounding all walks of people especially those in the services section. According to the Labor Department 63,000 jobs have been lost from the private sector as a result of economic woes. Firms opt to reduce their workforces and stay in business than to hover on the idea that tomorrow would be a better day and end up declaring bankruptcy which would lead to more lay-offs.
If you are a college kid who wants extra income, a fulltime employee who has ample time to earn more or simply just tired of full-time jobs and prefer to get several part-time ones for more diversity, you might be in for a surprise. Part-time jobs are getting scarcer as more and more people want diversity in their professions. People have long held several jobs so they maximize their potential in the workplace. Another surprising fact is that these same people have different job choices which get to beat the normal office burnout which results from having to do the same job over and over again for many years. This tends to have psychologically detrimental effects where the person becomes almost allergic to the job and hates it continuing to do so only because jobs are hard to find.
Take a clue from Paul Blart and get down to earning a living guarding malls and even museums who may have a need for extra help. You may have to shell out a few bucks for training but it’s a job and where there’s a job, there’s hope. Most people think these jobs as menial but they are in constant demand for sure. These institutions give competitive salaries for the most trivial jobs. Love to work nights, then this job is suited for you for they need people day and night. Jobs are out there and you simply have to look. Watch Discovery and see Mike Rowe show you some of the most unglamorous jobs that earn you money and society cannot do without. Life is cruel to those who simply wait, so get out there and get hunting, even in the most unlikely places! You may even get to ride that cool two-wheeled transport unit (called a SEGWAY), talk about cool.

Being an avid social web site user, you may be amazed at what employers do nowadays to obtain information regarding prospective employees. Facebook, Friendster and many other social web sites are within easy reach and they do check for everything in today’s crazy world. though background checks are a norm, going this far can indeed land you in hot water causing you to lose your bid for a job. Though everybody does it, you may want to heed the warnings and privacy statements within these sites so you don’t get surprises. They’re free but they’re also accessible to everybody who has a computer and is connected to the internet.
Balance your use of the web for seemingly harmless actions can land you in hot water indeed. Screen information shared over the internet for any that can be used against you. Be wary of unknown people(which is totally countering the purpose of the social net) on the internet for they can be somebody else.

I have read an article in one job search website and i want to share the thing that i have learned. the author of that article is focusing on the competition that most applicants are experiencing nowadays, the author suggest 3 things to avoid so that you will be competitive to other applicants:
1) Don’t be pessimestic! think of positive ways and thoughts, avoid negative thinking so that you will not be pulled down because most applicants are thinking ahead of how if they failed? how if they are not accepted for that job? instead of comparing yourself to others or by thinking of negative thoughts think of ways that will help you pass the application process.
2) Don’t be alone! socialized with your friends, relatives, or neighbor so that you can ask them about job hunting and job searching. they may also help you by referring you their company or by helping you to get a job.
3) Don’t ever go to the company if you are not prepared! because you will just waste your time if you are not prepared.
