jh5.JPGMany job hunters would laugh at the prospect of getting a job they barely know but end up loving and making it successfully in the said field. This is not an uncommon strategy of people who are just fed up with the work they are currently in. Be brave and face the lion in the face and ask yourself; Would I last in this job?, Can I live with facing a computer everyday for the rest of my career?
Many so-called shifters will tell you that it may just be the break you are searching for when it comes to jobs that you couldn’t get. For example, philosophy graduates are more in demand now for business related jobs than ever before. Why, the way they think brings a better understanding of businesses and the social aspects of doing business.

Spice things up

out
Employers are always on the lookout for creative people who do more than just the usual. Here are some ways to spice up your job applications:

1. Make a video resume.
A video resume is sort of like you in a simulated job interview, except you’re the only one talking. Relate how much you can contribute to the job, outline your skills and experience.

2. Have an online portfolio.
Showcase your actual skills and have a website where you can show your body of work – whether written, graphic, or photos. As long as it can be posted on the net, show it. Employers appreciate having actual work samples to refer to instead of just having raw data on a resume.

3. Get connected to a professional network.
Sites like LinkedIn can help you build a professional network of contacts, and if you can get recommendations, so much the better.

mallcopTake a clue from Paul Blart and get down to earning a living guarding malls and even museums who may have a need for extra help. You may have to shell out a few bucks for training but it’s a job and where there’s a job, there’s hope. Most people think these jobs as menial but they are in constant demand for sure. These institutions give competitive salaries for the most trivial jobs. Love to work nights, then this job is suited for you for they need people day and night. Jobs are out there and you simply have to look. Watch Discovery and see Mike Rowe show you some of the most unglamorous jobs that earn you money and society cannot do without. You may even get to ride that cool two-wheeled transport unit (called a SEGWAY), talk about cool.

Being a fresh graduate is a frightful reality when looking for the right job in the market. A few tips and reminders should help you out portray that professional image even when you’re really just a NEWBIE.

Your voicemail greeting must sound professional. Employers will be turned off if they hear your lousy, cutesy voicemail greeting.

Simplify your email address. Do away with those hard to read, you-think-youre-so-smart addys. Make sure that you set your image right. It is best to set up an email with your first and last name in it.

Check and Double check your grammar and spelling when you’re writing your letter or resume. No shortcuts and no smileys, PLEASE!

Turn your mobile phone off or put it in Silent mode before you come in for an interview. Interruptions caused by you doesnt make of a good image.

Dress to kill. A very useful expression. Wear something that will accentuate your professional image. Business attire means Slacks, leather shoes and long sleeved polo.

Send a thank you letter to the person who interviewed you. Best way to do this is to request for his or her calling card.

These simple rules can work miracles for you if you just do them right. So, go ahead, make your day, punk!

I have read an article in one job search website and i want to share the thing that i have learned. the author of that article is focusing on the competition that most applicants are experiencing nowadays, the author suggest 3 things to avoid so that you will be competitive to other applicants:

1) Don’t be pessimestic! think of positive ways and thoughts, avoid negative thinking so that you will not be pulled down because most applicants are thinking ahead of how if they failed? how if they are not accepted for that job? instead of comparing yourself to others or by thinking of negative thoughts think of ways that will help you pass the application process.

2) Don’t be alone! socialized with your friends, relatives, or neighbor so that you can ask them about job hunting and job searching. they may also help you by referring you their company or by helping you to get a job.

3) Don’t ever go to the company if you are not prepared! because you will just waste your time if you are not prepared.

Job Satisfaction

jobhunt3.jpgThis is one thing a lot of us take fore granted, job satisfaction. People in offices do jobs for decades even if they hate it and are not totally satisfied with it for the simple reason that it is a job. Well, this has to end and people have to realize that it has a lot to do with the quality of life as a whole. Employees who begrudgingly stay with their jobs for fear of not having one are totally wrong in their concept for the employment market is evolving into a dynamic one that needs people who are energetic and motivated. The shift to telecommuting has allowed a more informal approach to employment with people having the ability to engage in more than one job. So take a look at your career and see if you are happy, you might be sacrificing your family’s happiness for a job you hate

The Resume

jh1.jpgDo you know that sending in resumes to all your prospective employers can cost you a lot of money in paper and printing costs? Be sure to check if they allow or only accept electronic versions to save you the trouble. Make it clean and concise with all the necessary information such as experience and educational background. Make a short narrative that describes you in the business environment but make it short. Include past employers if there are any for they can make your case stronger. Do use valid character references for some firms do verify the information. With a clean and proper resume, you’re on your way to an interview with a little more confidence and finesse.
