The government is probably the only industry that has been hiring people out of the recession cooked population for the bolstering of security needs. The terrorist threats that have been materialized by 9/11 has spurred increased spending into the security jobs market where people from video surveillance installers, monitoring staff and maintenance crews are getting good news for the time being. The increased expenditure translates to more jobs which people gladly take (there are not much around) and usually give acceptable pay. Security experts are also in demand due to the increasing need for bolstering existing security at vital installations such as airports, sea ports and borders. Countries all over the world are doing the same such as in the UK which is considered to be the most video surveillance covered country on earth with a camera on every street corner.

The Federal government has had an increase of hiring mainly due to requirements for homeland security and for bolstering existing security forces to deal with terrorist threats. Some economists say this is not all that bad (which brings to mind aliens from a different universe) who might as well be from another planet for the economy is getting worse and everybody knows it (except them that is). The government is pouring billions into the drive to protect Americans from external and internal threats that are constantly testing the resolve of security forces. The federal government payroll has increased so much it has the budget of a small country and it shows no signs of slowing.

Bad news for the slowing economy is taking its toll on the labor industry where people are loosing jobs faster due to the slowing economy. Companies have to resort to manpower reduction schemes in order to survive the financial crisis which is hounding all walks of people especially those in the services section. According to the Labor Department 63,000 jobs have been lost from the private sector as a result of economic woes. Firms opt to reduce their workforces and stay in business than to hover on the idea that tomorrow would be a better day and end up declaring bankruptcy which would lead to more lay-offs.

Experience is the key and that is what you’re after in the first place. Try to do well and create a nice portfolio for yourself as you go up the employment ladder which would reflect on your records. Most employers check the backgrounds of prospective employees for signs of unfavorable traits and incidents which past employers can provide on. If one lands in a job which you think is not suited for you and the challenges are not quite in your range, be frank with your employers so you can get options if they offer you with such, if not, better to get out and get another job that to be in a job that yeah, earns the green backs but kills you emotionally. If you’re not having fun in your job, then it’s not for you.

These identity protection systems that are designed to protect the identities of employees as well as all their records while in employment are mandatory by law but you must not rely on anybody to totally do it for you. Keep all financial information safe and away from the internet as much as possible to protect you from online thieves who prey on unprotected information. As much as possible, keep credit card numbers and other vital information (driver’s license numbers, social security and others) off the internet for assured privacy, as much as possible as in on a need to basis (which is almost always!!!).
